Are Rainsfords blinds child safe?

Absolutley! Rainsfords blinds are manufactured and installed to comply with the ACCC regulations for corded internal window coverings. Your Rainsfords representative will advise you on the safety requirements for products installed in your home.

How can I clean my roller blinds?

Regular cleaning of your roller blinds is the best way to keep them looking good. Either vacuuming on low suction or dust with a clean duster once a month. Other marks should be treated with caution and never use water or wet cloths to clean. White baby-wipes are a good option for more stubborn stains, but always proceed with caution. Do not rub the fabric vigorously.

How do I measure up for my blinds?

You won’t need to … a professionally trained Rainsfords representative will do a FREE measure and quote for you in your home or office! A lot of skill and know-how goes into making custom made window furnishings, so leave it to us to make everything perfect.

How see through are sunscreen blinds?

Rainsfords sunscreen roller blinds and awnings are excellent for providing day-time privacy, while still enjoying the view outside. They give protection from direct sun fading and damaging flooring and furniture, and maintain light in the room during the day. Always remember sunscreen blinds do not provide night time privacy, so need to be paired with a block-out blind or curtain if this is required.

Can I get samples of the fabric I like?

Absolutely! Simply let your Rainsfords representative know at the time of your appointment, or call our office on 8338 1414 and we will be more than happy to organise fabric samples to be sent directly you.

How block-out are Rainsfords block-out fabrics?

Rainsfords block-out fabrics do not allow any light to penetrate through the fabric. These fabrics are considered to be 100% block-out.

General Information

How long will it take to get my blinds or curtains?

All of Rainsfords products are custom made to precisely fit your windows. We don’t buy off the shelf products and cut them back to suit your windows. Each blind, curtain and shutter are made specifically for your window and this process takes time. As a general rule these are out time frames: blinds – 4 weeks, curtains 4-5 weeks, timber shutters 5-6 weeks, exterior awnings and blinds 4 weeks.

Occasionally, we experience delays via our fabric suppliers that may result in products taking a little longer, but we will always keep you informed if this is the case.

Is it possible to change my order after it has been placed?

As all of Rainsfords products are custom made specifically for your windows, once your order has been placed and our factory have begun work on your order, changes cannot be made. Minor changes can be made if your order has not been processed by our factory, but this will need to be discussed with Rainsfords manager. We will always try and help where we can!

What are Rainsfords opening hours?

Rainsfords have a mobile showroom which means we come to you! Even though we don’t have a physical showroom our office is open at these times:

Monday – Friday 9:00am to 5:00pm

Saturday 9:00am to 1pm

Holland blinds

What is a holland blind?

A holland blind is a type of blind that rolls up and down and is made from a flat piece of fabric. It has a top aluminium tube the fabric rolls around when being raised which also houses a tensioned spring to allow the blind to go up and down. Holland blinds are available with cut out shaped bottom trims such as scallops, waves and peaks are is most suited to traditional homes.

What is a roller blind?

A roller blind is a type of blind that rolls up and down and is made from a flat piece of fabric. It has a top aluminium tube the fabric rolls around when being raised and a bottom aluminium base rail to weigh the fabric down. It is controlled by a side linked ball chain and is most suited to modern homes or where a simple blind is required.

Roman blinds

What is a roman blind?

A roman blind is a type of blind that folds up horizontally in panels. As the blind is raised each panel tucks up behind the other. When fully raised roman blinds look similar to a pelmet. They can be operated either by a cord or a looped ball chain. Roman blinds can be made from either standard blind fabrics or most drapery fabrics for a customised look.

Timber Shutters

Are my windows suitable for timber shutters?

The best way to find out if your windows are suitable for timber shutters is to have a Rainsfords consultant come and do a free measure and quote for you. During your meeting they will look at how deep your window frame is, if there are any locks, handles or fly screens obstructing the placement of a timber shutters and general suitability. Not all windows can successfully have timber shutters fitted, but a Rainsfords consultant will be able to easily advise you.

Are timber shutters good at insulating?

Yes … wood is a good insulator. Rainsfords timber shutters are constructed in such a way that they close up tightly, minimising gaps between blades and framing. They are installed and gap filled if needed to reduce movement of air from the glass to inside the room, and to ensure a seamless look.

Can timber shutters be put in bathrooms?

Rainsfords have timber shutters that are specifically made for wet areas such as bathrooms, laundries and kitchens. Made from advanced polymers used in the car industry, these shutters are made to be highly durable against humidity, UV and heat.

Do timber shutters provide privacy?

Timber shutters are excellent at providing different levels of privacy and light control. By tilting the blades of the shutters, you have the ability to let light into the room and maintain privacy. By adding a horizontal fixed timber rail to the centre of the panel, you have the flexibility to have either the top or bottom sets of blades open or closed at any given time. Timber shutters can also be completely opened to maximise light and to access the window behind.

What are plantation shutters?

Plantation shutters are the same as timber shutters. They consist of a solid timber frame that is securely fixed to the reveal of the window, and hinged timber slatted panels that are fixed to the timber frame. Plantation shutters have the ability to be fully opened or the blades within the panel to be tilted to vary light and privacy. Timber shutters made from plantation grown timber.
